We camped at the old Talbot hut site just below Mt Erica. We did a side trip to a view point for Tin Mine Falls. Day 29 Followed the ridge from High Cone across to Mt Macdonald. The bottle of pears in my drop says it serves 5, it lasted me about 2 minutes for the whole bottle Ian’s food drop was auctioned off between the piggies. Don’t think she got much sleep. From Mount Kosciuszko to Canberra, the walk passes 245 kilometres, through the Main Range and over Mount Jagungal. The old town was burnt out in the 39 fires so no buildings to see. Didn’t see any horses, and only one pile of phoo. Before them, the area was inhabited by a number of Aboriginal language groups, the Kurnai/Gunai people in the southern Victorian Alps, the Walgal people in what is know Kosciuszko National Park, NSW, and the Ngarigo people in the highlands. On solo hikes it is 4.2 km per hour for the majority of my hikes, and 3.7 km per hour in the steep sections of the Australian Alps.
